Pendant Pour-Over

My experience working in specialty coffee and love for user research came together to create the Pendant Pour-Over. This system aimed to maintain the personal connection a pour-over coffee provides, while allowing the barista to multitask on other orders. Balancing tradition with functionality proved to be a challenge, but with effective user research, a plethora of form ideation, and evocative CAD renderings, the Pendant Pour-Over was able to keep the personal touch of a pour-over and reduce the task load on busy baristas.

Final Solution

Pendant Pour-Over

The pattern and angle of the small holes on the water dispenser allow for the water to release slowly onto the coffee grounds, increasing the reliability of quality and allowing the barista to step away from the pour-over process.

The beans are stored in small vials so baristas are able to weigh out all doses at the beginning of the day. The bean storage system includes a scale, reducing the amount of locations needed to complete the task.
